Hayravank monastery is located just northeast of the village of Hayravank along the southwest shores of Lake Sevan in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. The history of Hayravank dates back to the 4th century when the St. Stephanos churchwas built.

It has a quatrefoil cruciform central-plan structure with four semi-circular apses that intersect to create squinches for the octagonal drum and conical dome to stand above. In the small fenced yard of Hayravank are numerous khachkars and gravestones of XVI century. Hayravank operated until the XIX century.

In 1980s. the monastery was renovated and the dome of church rebuilt. A number of habitation houses have been excavated. The earliest Early Bronze Age material which was found was a piece of black polished container.

More characteristic to the complex, are items referred to as the iron period - bronze, iron, bone and stone weapons, tools and jewelry. There were also discovered clay idols, vessels, fire-places and so on.
